My kids are getting bigger. And as they’ve grown, so has the amount of stuff it takes to keep them entertained, clothed, and happy. Who knew? When I found myself needing a solution to declutter, I didn’t look to a retailer or a brand website. I looked for someone with an expert point of view – someone who could help me figure out a solution that was right for me. That person was Eric Wang, a YouTube creator.
I don't think I'm unusual. More and more of us turn to creators we trust when we're researching what to buy. It's why creator marketing has moved from a side experiment to a core part of how brands grow.
But as creator marketing scales and replaces the playbook we knew by heart, it’s become clear the methods that got us here won’t take us into the next wave of growth.
YouTube creators are the new advisors in the aisle
My search for how to declutter is a good example of how creators are shaping consumer journeys. Creators are a proven way for brands to get noticed, but on YouTube, they’re also a go-to for making confident decisions. In fact, viewers rank YouTube as the top platform they visit when they want to research, vet, or make a decision about a brand, product, or service.1
That’s happening across every way people watch, from their mobile phone to their connected TV. And creators don’t just attract new views once; they serve as trusted advisors to invested communities of fans: 80% of viewers in the U.S. say they return to the same YouTube creators again and again.2
As a marketer and a parent, I see why that trust matters. It turns new discoveries into decisions consumers feel good about making.
Google AI helps brands show up at those decision moments, and the results last: YouTube drives 86% higher incremental long-term ROAS than paid social, on average.3

Look past subscriber count
One challenge I hear about again and again from brands is finding the right creators. Your success depends on it. YouTube’s creator ecosystem has millions of creators available for partnerships, from global superstars to niche experts who know everything about vintage watches. Finding your fit means going beyond subscriber counts and looking at the creators who can reach the audience you want.
That’s why we partnered with CreatorIQ to embed rich datasets into their system, giving brands first-party insight into who is actually watching and what brands and products matter to them.
Your teams can act faster, too. CreatorIQ customers are now vetting creators and kicking off partnerships more quickly, contributing to a 28% increase in distinct campaigns for its clients. “By shifting discovery from subscriber counts to verified viewer insights, brands can make smarter partnership decisions,” says Tim Sovay, Chief Partnerships Officer at CreatorIQ.
Through our partnership, CreatorIQ customers can access all the data they need to select the right YouTube creators for their campaigns, including the ability to search more than a million YouTube creator profiles with in-depth details, like viewership data.
Finding the right creator takes both data and judgment
My favorite example comes from Dentsu. Their team used YouTube’s performance benchmarks to see which creators have a track record of not only capturing attention but also driving meaningful audience response.
Gary Orellana, SVP of Influencer Marketing at Dentsu Creative, is clear that data is only half of the equation. “We pair those signals with the human judgment and taste that comes from experience to identify who will genuinely resonate,” he says.
That combination led to partnerships with creators like Alex Nino and Claire and Peter. Across Dentsu's YouTube Shorts activations, performance has run 50–80% above standard campaign benchmarks, according to Orellana.
Build greater partnerships and boost them
We looked at the best-performing creator partnerships on YouTube and captured what we learned in our Build and Boost playbook.

Build is about putting together the right mix of creators for what you’re trying to achieve, and then briefing them well. The best work doesn’t force a creator into your brand’s world. It finds a natural way for your brand to fit into theirs.
Boost is about not leaving great creator content to organic reach alone. Pick the pieces that are already working and give them more impact with paid formats that best fit the campaign.
We put everything we’ve learned into the Build & Boost YouTube Creator Marketing Playbook. If you’re working out what comes next for your creator program, I hope it's a useful place to start.
