Seletta Raven: Don't Be Afraid to Challenge What Is Known

We’re trying something new here at CreatorIQ. We want you to get to know the people behind the brand. And so, we’ll be highlighting amazing insights from our employees. First up: Seletta Raven, Product Support Lead.

Can you share your background, who you are, and the journey that led you to your current role within the company?

I have worked in a variety of industries and roles, so my unique background helps me view things well outside the box. Most recently I spent four years in product support at a Payroll company and was a facilitator for a small coaching company.

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests that you're passionate about?

I am a multimedia artist, a published poet, and I love making candy! I have also been getting back into costuming the past few years, which has been wonderful.

Reflecting on your time with the company, what is a specific accomplishment or moment that you are particularly proud of?

Becoming a SME on authentication led me to finding an issue, and I am proud of how thorough a job I did before bringing that to my manager. It was a lot of work and I learned so much in the process.

What advice would you give to your colleagues who are looking to excel in their roles or advance in their careers?

Be curious! A deepdive turning into a rabbit hole is a good thing. Sometimes we can be afraid of gathering too much data, too much data might be just enough.

What does Black History Month mean to you personally, and how do you think it contributes to fostering a more inclusive workplace?

Growing up, I felt like an outsider-looking-in at two different families, because being multicultural means you see things others don't. My goal is to always help others feel included while honoring my favorite self. I celebrate my Blackness because it's so special to me, and I think my genuine joy about my culture is inviting.

One of the many things that set Seletta apart is her willingness to have hard conversations. It’s important. Because of her non-linear background, she has honed facilitation skills that make her an asset to her team in an unexpected way. Seletta encourages us to, “ask questions, don't be afraid to challenge what is known. Your voice can make all the difference.”
